Our Core Values
Core Value 1—Bible Based
We Believe that the Scriptures are the inspired, (inerrant), Word of God, and are the basis of all we say, think, and do … we will serve the Lord our God and obey Him [Joshua 24:24b]. For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart [Hebrews 4:12].
All of our ministries will reflect the Word of God in its truth and purity as written in Holy Scripture, and
Will properly separate Law and Gospel, and
The Sacraments will be administered according to their divine institution and the Lutheran Confessions, and
All preaching and teaching will be Bible based.
Core Value 2—Worship
We Believe that worship of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are paramount in our Christian lives … it is to be a witness between us and you and the generations that follow, that we will worship the Lord at His sanctuary with our burnt offerings, sacrifices and fellowship offerings [Joshua 22:27] and Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs [Psalm 100:2].
We will gather regularly and the focus of our worship will be to the glory of God, and
Our worship style/format will meet the needs of the churched and un-churched, and
Music will be part of our worship and Music Ministry will be a focal point in our overall ministry, and
Children and youth will be actively involved in worship.
Core Value 3—Outreach
We Believe that the Word of God and the saving message of the Gospel is so important that we will reach out at all times to the community of the un-churched in our immediate area, and across the globe … Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you … [Matthew 28:19-20a].
Realizing that the Gospel is not ours alone, we will be active in planting other congregations in our geographical area and supporting them with our prayers, dollars, and members, and
Recognizing the value of our community, we will strive to involve our community in ministries and programs that will bring them to Christ or increase their faith and meet their needs, and
Noting that the Scripture says that we are to go and make disciples of all nations, we will support world mission activities with our prayers, dollars, and member participation.
Core Value 4—Making Disciples
We Believe that it is necessary to grow disciples in their faith and in their personal commitment to service of our Lord Jesus Christ … Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully [Romans 12:4-8].
We will always view ourselves as servants of our Lord Jesus Christ, and will strive to develop, implement, and enhance servant oriented ministries, and
We will encourage and equip one another to use our Spiritual gifts, and
Since the family is part of the Body of Christ, we will have as a primary focus ministries for the family, and
Knowing that the Word must be heard, we will attempt to identify and support professional church workers in our congregation, and
Promote and develop strong lay led, staff directed ministry, and
As the youth of the Church are the leaders of tomorrow and contributors of today, we will have as a focal point youth ministry, and
We will strive to be enthusiastic and positive, both publicly and privately, in our work and in our ministries, and
In our fellowship within our congregation and our community we will represent the love of Jesus, and
We will be unified in our approach to ministry, and
We will tithe as the Lord has provided, and will encourage one another to tithe or work toward that goal.
Core Value 5—Education For All Ages
We Believe that education in God’s Word is necessary for us as God’s people to grow in our Spiritual lives and walk … Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up [Deuteronomy 11:19] and Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; may Your Spirit lead me on level ground [Psalm 143:10].
Teaching children, youth, and adults the Word of God will be foundational and critical in our educational activities, and
The doctrine of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod will be part of our curriculum when instructing people of all ages, and
Recognizing the need for continuing education, we will provide our lay leaders and staff with opportunities for growth in the Word of God and other seminars/ conferences relating to their role in the Church, and
Recognizing that parents are the primary educators of their families, we seek to equip and support them in their walk with God.
Core Value 6—Caring
We Believe that caring for one another and our community is our duty as God’s children, … these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring … [1 Timothy 5:4b] and Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, serving as overseers—not because you must, but because you are willing [1 Peter 5:2].
We will attempt to focus on the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each individual, family, and group within our congregation and help to provide care for them, and
Counseling services will be available for spiritual and other needs by staff members and/or local Christian counselors, and
Since we appreciate one another and know that God listens to prayer, we will continually pray for one another, and
Although some of us, because of illness, cannot attend worship, we will provide frequent homebound visitation, and
When illness occurs, we will strive to visit the hospitalized, and
To develop and grow the Small Group Ministry of our congregation to reach out for the lost and show Christian love and care for one another will be an integral part of our ministry.
Core Value 7—Accountability
We Believe that we must be accountable to our Lord Jesus Christ and to one another … Since an overseer is entrusted with God’s work, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it [Titus 1:7-9] and … guard what has been entrusted to your care [1 Timothy 6:20a].
We will be good stewards of the financial resources God has given us through the gifts of the congregation, and
Realizing the importance of communication, we will strive to effectively communicate with one another, and
We will maintain a high expectation level of one another, and
Realizing that commitment to ministry and the growth of God’s Kingdom is paramount, we will maintain a high level of commitment, grow staff by seeking those highly committed in ministry, and encourage one another, and
Because of Christ’s Great Commission reflected in our Mission Statement, we will strive to increase the numerical growth of St. Paul Church annually, and
As God has so richly provided us with a beautiful campus, we will be good stewards of it and God’s earth, and
Since God provides for our every need, our church will tithe for the Lord’s work locally and around the world.
Core Value 8—Welcoming
We Believe that God has created us all equally in His image, and in order to grow God’s Kingdom … Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited [Romans 12:15-16].
It is necessary for us to be relational in all ministries, and
We will be friendly and open to meeting and greeting all people that God entrusts to us.
