Next Week’s Sermon: July 11/12

As we continue our series “The Kingdom: Stories, Secrets and Surprises”, we hear Jesus tell a story about a Sower sowing good seed in his field…and an enemy sowing weeds right on top of them! Naturally, the servants want to tear out the weeds. But the Sower tells them to do nothing until the harvest. Crazy, right? Not to Jesus. We who would want to root out all the evil “weeds” around us would inevitably uproot ourselves; we, too, are sinners! Yet, the Sower knows the good seed: those who have been forgiven of their sin. Until the harvest, this is what God’s people sow: forgiveness, life and salvation to all! Come, receive the Word, be forgiven! To prepare for worship, read Matthew 13:24-30.
