Next Week’s Sermon: May 23/24
All Flesh / The Day of Pentecost has two areas to focus on: the particular and the universal. We see the disciples have tongues of flame appear on their heads, the speaking in languages they have never learned, the response of the crowd and Peter’s message. What does this have to do with us? With anyone? The events of Pentecost expand with these words: “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh.” The Spirit of God has been poured out on us in baptism. The Spirit pours out the mighty acts of God in Jesus on us. And the Spirit is to be poured out on everyone, for every sinner needs salvation that only Jesus can give! Come and receive the Spirit poured out for you! To prepare for worship, read Acts 2:1-8, 12-18, 21
